Rachel and Regina have been veterinary assistants at Hermosa Animal Hospital since 2006 and 2010, respectively, and though we are sorry to lose their helping hands, we're very excited and proud to announce that they'll both be starting vet school this fall!

Rachel was born and raised in Torrance. From a very young age, she knew she would one day become a veterinarian. Her interest began with the “small zoo” residing at her family's residence, which include the greyhound Bean, the cats Ratatouille and Indy, the birds Kiwi and Pepper, and a green iguana named Bob. Rachel earned a B.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from CSUDH. Her preparation for veterinary school is quite extensive and does not stop with her small animal experience at Hermosa Animal Hospital. She volunteered at the Marine Mammal Care Center in San Pedro, the California Wildlife Center in Malibu, the International Bird Rescue, and at Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center in Huntington Beach. Whenever an injured bird finds itself at Hermosa Animal Hospital, Rachel comes to the rescue. It is with a laughing and a crying eye that we announce Rachel’s departure this summer to attend the Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. (Bio by Regina.)
Regina was born and raised in Passau, Germany, on a dairy farm with her parents, Willi and Elizabeth, along with her siblings and grandparents. When she was young, Regina would always shadow the veterinarian who came to check on the dairy cows and take care of the feral cats. She graduated from Munich College of Translations Studies in 2007 before coming to America in 2008. After working as a translator and interpreter, Regina decided to follow her true passion of becoming a veterinarian. She came to Hermosa Animal Hospital in 2010, where she became a veterinary assistant. In May 2015, she graduated with honors from CSUDH with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology. In her spare time, Regina volunteers with the dog rescue group Bullies and Buddies and at Harbor Animal Shelter in San Pedro. She lives in Hermosa Beach with her husband, Brent, her dog, Susie, and her cats, Finne, Grebez, and O.G. In August, she will be attending Western University of Health Sciences as School of Veterinary Medicine in Pomona, CA. (Bio by Rachel.)
